RIBA councillor Shahriar Nasser, founding director of Belsize Architects:“This is an interesting survey – and it’s encouraging that the majority of respondents say the RIBA is needed. That’s a good starting point for change. There is pessimism about the future of the RIBA and uncertainty about whether it is doing the right things for members. It may of course be worse: that the RIBA is doing good work but members do not recognise it. It’s surprising, for instance, to see so many who thing the RIBA is not championing better building. Improved communication about what members need and what the RIBA is doing on their behalf is critical”
